The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is one of the U.S. government’s four foreign affairs agencies as designated by the Foreign Service Act of 1980. The core mission of FAS is to facilitate trade and international cooperation, which are critical to the vitality of the U.S. agricultural sector.  

The FAS team includes more than 150 Foreign Service officers posted around the globe. FAS agricultural attachés serve as the eyes, ears and voice of American agriculture around the world. They are the front‐line professionals representing the Department of Agriculture in nearly 100 field offices at U.S. diplomatic missions approximately 180 countries.

Virtual ERS & NIFA Career Opportunities Expo

USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) are looking for qualified candidates for multiple positions in the Kansas City area. Summer 2013 Intern Briefings

C-FARE invites all students with an interest in economics who are interning in Washington, DC this summer to participate in their Summer 2013 Intern Briefings which will focus on careers with Capitol Hill, agencies and non-governmental organizations. The USDA Economist Group is co-sponsoring several of these events.

These briefings are designed to allow students to hear from professionals who have received a degree in agricultural, natural resources, or applied economics about their career paths and receive insight on potential classes to take, and other details regarding the necessary background to succeed in Washington, DC.

There are three events scheduled:
June 24, 2013 - Focusing on Capitol Hill Careers
July 15, 2013 - Focusing on Private Sector Careers
July 22, 2013 - Focusing on Agency Careers
