IAAE Interconference Symposium THIRD CALL for Abstracts

The Argentinean, Chilean, and Uruguayan Agricultural Economics Associations along with the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) are delighted to invite you to the 2nd Inter-Conference Symposium, the 6to Congreso Regional de Economía Agraria and the 1st Latin- American Workshop on Productivity and Efficiency. These joint Meetings will take place on April 19-21, 2023, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The overall theme is: “THE ROLE OF THE AGRIBUSINESS SECTOR IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF LATIN AMERICAN ECONOMIES.” However, Abstracts focusing on broader agricultural economics, sustainability and productivity topics are welcome.

This collaborative effort seeks to provide an expanded regional network for agricultural economists from all over Latin America focusing on the sustainable development of our rural economies. Providing a platform for discussion, exchange, and networking, we are seeking to strengthen the profession throughout the region.

The regional associations of agricultural economics in collaboration with the IAAE, invite all their members to submit abstracts. We plan to publish a special issue of Agribusiness: An International Journal with a selection of the best papers presented focusing on agribusiness topics.

The recently formed International Society for Efficiency and Productivity Analysis (ISEAPA), affiliated with the Journal of Productivity Analysis (JPA), also encourages its Founding Members and regular membership to participate in these meetings. The authors of the best papers presented related to Latin American efficiency and productivity will be invited by ISEAPA to submit a paper for possible publication in a Special issue of the JPA.

The abstract submission site opened on August 1st, 2022, and the deadline for reception will be November 30, 2022. However, Young Professionals applying for partial support need to submit no later than November 25th, 2022. The link for abstract submission is available on the website.

31st International Conference of Agricultural Economists

MOVES VIRTUAL

The IAAE Board of Directors wishes to announce that the 31st ICAE Conference, initially scheduled for New Delhi in August 2021, will now be a Virtual Event, tentatively from August 17-31. This extended period is to accommodate our participants form diverse time zones.

Online conferences have their challenges, but we hope the new software solution we have identified will allow us to try a range of new and exciting options that will enhance the benefits to our members.

Contributed Papers and Organized Symposium submissions: The deadline for submission of papers and symposia has been extended to Tuesday March 30, 2021 to allow more time for submissions. All proposals already submitted for review remain eligible for selection. To that effect, we are extending the opportunity to those who may wish to update and/or revise their submissions until the above deadline.

While we are still finalizing the registration fee, the good news is that the fee will be substantially lower than usual. We are also still exploring fundraising opportunities to help sponsor participation by early-career academics and professionals, especially those from low- and lower-middle-income countries.

IAAE: Inter-Conference Symposium

Submission of full papers: Full papers written in English should be submitted via the ConfTool system NO LATER than June 1, 2017. The papers should be no longer than 10 pages total including Tables, and Figures (References do not count in the 10 page limit). Papers should be double spaced, use Times New Roman Font 12 with one-inch margins all around. The papers should provide a background section, a clear explanation of the core research question(s), data and methods used, results, conclusions and key references. Authors are asked to adhere to all stated requirements.

The corresponding author of each submitted paper commits to review at most 3 papers from other authors. In addition to obtaining a suitable evaluation, final paper acceptance is contingent upon the timely submission of the reviews for these papers.

Notifications of selected papers will be sent by July 1, 2017. At least one author of an accepted paper must register and pay the conference fee no later than August 15 for the paper to be included in the Program. All other Participants must be registered no later than September 1, 2017.

POSTERS: Some papers might be assigned to a Poster Presentation depending on recommendations made by the reviewers. During the Visual Presentation sessions, participants will circulate to hear your presentation and discuss your research. You should aim to present for approximately 5 minutes and then be prepared to answer questions.

ORGANIZED PANELS: We invite the submission of Organized Panels, with a due date of May 30, 2017. These proposals should be submitted by email to info@iaae2017talca.org. The Scientific Committee will be responsible for the evaluation and final decision regarding the proposals.

The purpose of the organized panels, which will be held as plenary or part of the parallel sessions, is to bring together 3-4 panelists that are working on a common topic, which may be related to the theme of the Symposium. The topic can focus on policy issues, research methods, emerging research results, and teaching or outreach. The sessions may have different formats but the typical arrangement is short presentations on a common theme. Regardless of the format proposed, all panels need to allocate an important share of the available time for interactions among the panelists and between the panelists and the audience (at least 30 minutes from a total of 90).

The Proposals need to include: session title; session rationale; names and contact information for the organizer and other participants; and a description of the format including plans for discussion. The proposal should be no longer than two pages.
