Iowa Farmland Values Rebound After Three-Year Decline
By:  Successful Farming/Agriculture.com, Des Moines Register, Iowa Public Radio, Corn and Soybean Digest, Farm Journal, and Radio Iowa - December 13, 2017
An Iowa State University survey said the average acre of Iowa farmland rose in value by 2% in 2017, to $7,326, ending the first three-year decline in values since the agricultural crisis of the mid-1980s. The leader of the survey, Wendong Zhang, said he viewed the increase as “a temporary break in a downward adjustment trajectory.”

"The underlying studies date back to publications in the 1990s, but it really dates back to science from the 1980s," said Thomas Hertel, Purdue distinguished professor of agricultural economics, whose findings were published in Nature Communications. "It was optimistic on the benefits to agriculture from rising temperatures."

By: The Western Producer - December 14, 2017
“I think the system is skewed,” Danny Klinefelter, a prominent Texas A and M University professor, said in an interview a few days after his official retirement.

“It’s not that I think that the research that’s being done is not good stuff and doesn’t have a place; it’s that it’s being done to the exclusion of applied (economics.)”
