Terry Griffin, assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Kansas State University, will speak on the profitability of precision agriculture technologies.

New year continued adjustment for economy

INDIANAPOLIS — As 2017 approaches, a majority of individuals involved in agriculture, whether they are farmers or veterinarians, nervously wait to see how the economy and grain markets unfold.
During the Indiana-Illinois Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Show, Chris Hurt, who is an agricultural economics professor at Purdue University, spoke to attendees on the outlook of the industry and markets for the new year.
“Ten years ago this fall is when the boom started in agriculture. We all recognize that we are seeing something different now,” Hurt said, adding that the current economical situation is different than it was even just three years ago.
