The University of Vermont is a fantastic site to host the
2014 conference. In a state that has been at the forefront of
the sustainable food movement, UVM has adopted Food systems
as one of three spires of excellence in a university-wide
transdisciplinary research initiative.
Conference Background:
The Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS)
was founded in
1985, with the goals of promoting the interdisciplinary study
of food and society. It has continued that mission by
holding annual meetings; the first of which was in
1987. The Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS)
encompasses individual and institutional members from disciplines
that range from
agricultural production and the rural social sciences to
nutrition policy and the humanities. The AFHVS was formed in 1987
to promote the study of values issues associated with the production,
consumption and distribution of food, fiber and natural
resources. Follow above link for submission
details.
