USDA-NIFA has released its first request for applications (RFA) for those looking to receive funding for their research. This RFA, the first of seven, is for the AFRI Foundational Program, which is designed to continue building a foundation of knowledge in fundamental and applied food and agricultural sciences.
In particular, the program will focus on these six priority areas:
- Plant health and production and plant products
- Animal health and production and animal products
- Food safety, nutrition and health
- Renewable energy, natural resources and environment
- Agriculture systems and technology
- Agriculture economics and rural communities
NIFA has $262 million available for funding in 2011, which includes $78 million for the AFRI Foundational Program alone. For more information, read the
full release on this program. We'll post information about future NIFA RFAs as they are released.
