3 Ways to Get More Involved with AAEA

Have you ever wanted to play a more active role with AAEA? Currently, there are three great ways for you to get involved with the association, which will allow you to help shape the direction of the association, as well as the implementation of new products and services.

Volunteer to be part of an AAEA Committee

Members interested in shaping the future of AAEA can play an essential role by serving on an association committee. Committees work with the AAEA Executive Board, AAEA Staff, and other AAEA members on the strategy and implementation of a specific aspect of the association. Committee service also offers an excellent opportunity for developing contacts and increasing professional networking.

To learn more about what committees are looking for new members and how to volunteer, read the full Call for Committee Volunteers. If you're interested, be sure to contact AAEA by May 3.

Become an Editor

AAEA is in the process of looking for an editor for two of its publications. Both AEPP and Choices have openings on their editorial teams. Becoming an editor allows you to both shape the content published by AAEA, as well as increase your professional recognition.

AEPP is looking for an editor to serve from January 2011–December 2014. Applications are due by June 4. You can learn more by checking out the full call for applications.

Choices is looking to fill the new position of Associate Editor. The person selected will serve for two years in that role and then assume the role of Choices Editor for two years. The Associate Editor will begin working with Choices in August 2010. Applications are due by June 4. The full call for applications has more information.

Vote in the Executive Board Election

The easiest way for you to get involved with AAEA is to vote in the election for new members of the AAEA Executive Board. All 2010 AAEA members can vote online in the My Account section of the AAEA website. If you're not a current member, but would still like to vote, be sure to renew before May 5. The election ends on May 17.
