Droughts and natural disasters have caused widespread effects
across the farm economy this past year by increasing price volatility and
production risk, as well as increasing financial uncertainty. These risks
directly affect farms and ranches impacted by the natural
disaster but also producers far removed are affected by
reduced input supplies and price increases. A three part webinar series will
present issues concerning managing drought and disaster impacts.

Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Case Study Invited Paper Sessions
AAEA welcomes proposals for case studies for a special invited paper
session that will be part of the 2013 AAEA & CAES Joint
Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. Cases in this invited paper session
may be published in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics
in January 2014, subject to appropriate review. Regular page charges
will apply. Proposals from individuals or groups should be submitted to Sarah Kenner by December 7, 2012.

6th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics: Call for Papers
This is a call for economists, statisticians, researchers and analysts working on agricultural, forestry, fishery, and rural statistics, in their economic, social and environmental dimensions, to participate in the upcoming Sixth International Conference on Agriculture Statistics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 23-25 October 2013. The theme of the Conference is “Improving Statistics for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and Rural Development. Linking statistics with decision making”. The Conference will provide an opportunity to focus on issues raised by the implementation of the “Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics”, unanimously endorsed by the UN Statistical Commission.
